[00:00:04] Speaker A: Yo, it's effective immediately. I'm DJ here. [00:00:06] Speaker B: What up, Hip Hop Nation? It's your favorite homegirl, Gina Views. [00:00:08] Speaker A: We got a friend in the building. More like family, actually. Shout out to the homie. Kalen. For real, for real is here. [00:00:14] Speaker C: What's up? What's up, guys? [00:00:16] Speaker A: If we want to say your name incorrect, like everybody do. [00:00:18] Speaker B: Kalan. [00:00:19] Speaker A: I've heard. Kalan. I've heard. What's the other one that I'm forgetting? [00:00:23] Speaker C: Callan. [00:00:24] Speaker A: Khalen. [00:00:25] Speaker B: Callin is crazy. [00:00:26] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:00:28] Speaker A: Callan. Fr. [00:00:29] Speaker C: Kellen. For real, for real. Kalon Keelan. [00:00:33] Speaker B: What's your favorite one? [00:00:34] Speaker A: Somebody said Keelan before. [00:00:38] Speaker C: Jalen. That's my favorite one. Yeah. Jalen. For real. [00:00:41] Speaker A: Nobody's never called you Jalen, man. [00:00:42] Speaker C: People have called me crazy things with. [00:00:45] Speaker A: The K right there. [00:00:46] Speaker C: Yeah, that's crazy. Or people spell it wrong. Is it like they a butcher and I'll be in the studio with somebody. They won't even ask me, like, how to spell it. They just. [00:00:53] Speaker B: Who have you been mistaken for? Like, other, like, celebrities, other artists? Yeah. [00:00:57] Speaker C: Nah, nobody. [00:00:58] Speaker B: Nobody? [00:00:59] Speaker C: Nah. [00:00:59] Speaker B: No actors or nothing? [00:01:00] Speaker C: Nothing. [00:01:01] Speaker B: Nobody. [00:01:02] Speaker C: Nah, just me. [00:01:03] Speaker A: That shit crazy. Jalen is. I'm whooped. [00:01:05] Speaker C: Jaylen is crazy. [00:01:06] Speaker A: This is crazy. Wrong letter. But, yeah, you are here because the album California Player, I think. Now, I don't know how much we can, like, dive into the depths of, like, your mentality, but, you know, you called me, like, last week. Was it last week? [00:01:24] Speaker C: Mm. [00:01:25] Speaker A: And you was like, yo, I got it. I got it. I just figured it out. I was like, I didn't know what the fuck you was talking about. [00:01:31] Speaker C: I was just talking. I was excited, bro. [00:01:35] Speaker A: You FaceTimed me. He was like, head. I got it. I'm like, got what? I'm thinking, like some bad shit. Like you fuck with the wrong. You know what I mean? [00:01:40] Speaker C: Nah, hell no. [00:01:41] Speaker A: And then I was like, so I'm like, hell, no. I'm like. I was like, what you mean, hell no? [00:01:47] Speaker C: I'm good at Honduras' shoes. [00:01:48] Speaker A: Yeah, I see what you did there. I see what you did there. But, yeah, you was like, yeah, this project, fool. Like, you know, I got the records. I did this. What now? I guess my first question. I heard it, but my first question is, how many versions of the project did you go through? Because you don't. You'll play some shit, and then it won't be on the fucking album. [00:02:10] Speaker C: Yeah, probably like 4.4ver. [00:02:13] Speaker A: So it's four different versions of California Player? [00:02:16] Speaker C: Yeah, well, it's one version of California Player. It Was like two different projects before we got the California Player. [00:02:24] Speaker A: Okay, Gotcha. So that was a new concept. [00:02:26] Speaker C: Yeah, that was like a whole new shuffle. Like, I started from scratch probably, like, in April, March. [00:02:31] Speaker A: That would've pissed me off. [00:02:32] Speaker C: Yeah, I started right over April, March. [00:02:34] Speaker B: It definitely changed since I heard it. [00:02:36] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, for sure. [00:02:36] Speaker A: A lot is there. Do you give people a heads up, like, what, the producers, engineers, the team? [00:02:42] Speaker C: Nah, I kind of just woke up one morning and called, like, everybody, like, hey. They like, what's up? I'm like, I'm finna start over, so just let's lock in. And they like, what? And I'm like, yeah. Like, I just wanna start from scratch. We should start from scratch. Yeah, we just started from scratch. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Well, you got it. Cause last time we talked and now I see the changes. And you did that. [00:03:04] Speaker C: Put it together. Yeah, that. [00:03:05] Speaker B: The Player Anthem. Cause I wasn't on there at first. [00:03:07] Speaker C: I wasn't on there. [00:03:08] Speaker B: Nah, I like that. [00:03:09] Speaker C: I probably started with, like, 40 songs. I probably started, like, 40 songs for this one to get through, so. [00:03:17] Speaker A: Okay. All right. So the other projects that exist that you scrapped and moved on to this one. Is there a reason other than you like the songs better? Like, conceptually? [00:03:27] Speaker C: I just. They just wasn't the right ones for right now. You gotta just let the world talk to you. You know what I'm saying? [00:03:34] Speaker A: So would you listen to who's like. Like, what was the world saying to you? [00:03:38] Speaker C: Just do you, like, stop thinking so hard about it? [00:03:41] Speaker A: Overthinking? [00:03:42] Speaker C: Just go, yeah. Like, I feel like, just musically, I felt like I overthought a lot of what I've been doing and shit. It just went out the window one day I woke up and was like, yeah, like, maybe I am overthinking it. You know what I'm saying? You get caught in between dealing with professionalism, you know what I'm saying? Especially, like, being signed. I don't know if people, like, independent go through this, but I'm pretty sure everybody goes through this. You have different opinions from different people with different success. So you got different opinions coming from everywhere. And you not being where you like me not being where I would like to be as far as, like, as an artist, you feel like you forget the success that you did make, you know what I'm saying? Like, in the background. So probably, like, all the stuff in the background, I kind of discredited it a lot up until recently, you know what I'm saying? So I had to think about, like, damn, I did do a Lot to get here. And, like, people do already like me. I don't know why. I'm like, I can. Like, I don't have no plays, no fans, or nothing like that. Like, I'm like, you feel me? Like, I'm an underdog, and I really was on top of my shit the whole time. [00:04:46] Speaker A: You know, I go through that, too. I understand that. But I think you have to consistently remind yourself that you are kind of doing the thing. Like, Gina be having the same realization. Like, I'm really like, yeah, nigga. [00:04:58] Speaker C: Like, oh, God. You know, I just told her on her birthday, like, I'm hella proud of her. Like, we really like, shit. I've been doing interviews with Gina and all kind of shit with Gina since probably, like, what, 20, 16, 15. [00:05:07] Speaker B: I guess we kind of started with each other together. [00:05:09] Speaker C: Yeah. Low key. Yeah. [00:05:11] Speaker B: Dang. I will hug you right now, but. [00:05:13] Speaker C: Nah, it's not your birthday. [00:05:17] Speaker A: But what? [00:05:18] Speaker B: I just can't get up. I can't get up. [00:05:23] Speaker A: She's all set up. She's right there for the next three hours. [00:05:28] Speaker B: We gonna have to make this a thing now. Cause it's my second birthday. We done did an interview. [00:05:31] Speaker C: No, absolutely. On God. You was drunk on your last one, though. Yeah, definitely. [00:05:35] Speaker B: You was drunk, too. [00:05:35] Speaker C: I was faded. Y' all had the fish bowl with the drink in it. It's fun. It was fun. [00:05:40] Speaker B: I see you got your arms out. [00:05:42] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:05:43] Speaker B: You got your chain under the shirt. You walk around with your goyard and shit. [00:05:46] Speaker C: I just got my little guns out today. [00:05:48] Speaker B: I see the. [00:05:48] Speaker C: It's like 100 degrees. [00:05:49] Speaker A: You been in the gym? [00:05:50] Speaker C: Little bit. [00:05:50] Speaker B: You got the light watch on your chain. [00:05:53] Speaker C: It's still more than. [00:05:54] Speaker B: No, but it's not what you. You know, like, it's some grown shit. [00:05:57] Speaker C: It's player. [00:05:57] Speaker B: You on some grown shit. [00:05:58] Speaker C: It's player. [00:05:59] Speaker B: And this album, it feels very mature. [00:06:02] Speaker C: It's player. [00:06:03] Speaker B: Was that intentional? [00:06:04] Speaker C: Very, very much so. It's probably just being myself kind of living in my own. A lot of the music kind of refers to a life I've lived. Yeah. [00:06:13] Speaker A: It says confident, demanding respect and unapologetic authenticity. Redefining the word player. Because when we hear the player has a negative connotation. [00:06:23] Speaker C: Yeah, Everybody always take it light the wrong way. But you know what I'm saying, people? That's player. Gonna pick up on it. Like, you know, I feel like, as a man. Keep it G. Like, as a man, we probably. We pretty much do everything for women. Like, you know what I'm saying? In a sense, like you talking to the wrong. [00:06:44] Speaker A: Yeah, talk to her. [00:06:46] Speaker C: You talk to the wrong niggas pretty much do everything for one nigga. You gotta. If you player, like, you want the women to talk about you. Like. Yeah, he kept it player. Like he wasn't weird. Like he. [00:06:57] Speaker B: So California player. [00:06:59] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:06:59] Speaker B: Do they trick? [00:07:01] Speaker A: Who? [00:07:01] Speaker C: Do California players trick? Yeah, sometimes. So you don't trick out of your. Outta your means like, you know what I'm saying? Just little trick within your budget. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And then. But you also don't like, don't go messing around with no, like, shit you can't afford, you know what I'm saying? You could pretty much pick up on what Carpa or. Unless you feel me, you just player enough to do both. I've seen it all. Sometimes you don't got a trick. Like, sometimes that's already set up. She already got a trick. Like you could just what you gotta do. [00:07:32] Speaker B: Cause you had said real motion. You said, I'm getting money, so it's hard for a bitch to curve me. [00:07:40] Speaker C: Definitely is. They know who getting to it. Like, who getting money, who haven't, you know what I'm saying? [00:07:47] Speaker B: How they know though? [00:07:48] Speaker C: They could just smell it on a. [00:07:49] Speaker B: N. Like what it smell like? [00:07:53] Speaker C: Like this? Like this? Nah, but they know. How they know, you know. [00:08:02] Speaker B: Oh, I know. I know you. That's what I'm asking. [00:08:05] Speaker C: Hey, they just know. I don't know. [00:08:08] Speaker A: I don't know either. Yeah, I have no fucking idea. I have no clue. [00:08:13] Speaker C: That's for them to know. I just. You feel me? You just gotta keep, you know, when they not smelling you, you know? Yeah. [00:08:20] Speaker A: Do you. Okay, so there's a couple of songs. Let me just get. Let me stay in my tax bracket. [00:08:27] Speaker C: That's player of it. [00:08:30] Speaker A: That's player of it. Don't try to make me feel better. That was some player shit to get you. Don't try to pump me up, nigga. I don't need no pumped up. [00:08:37] Speaker C: Nah, you. [00:08:40] Speaker A: He tried to floss me. Yeah, he didn't do that. You know what I'm saying? [00:08:43] Speaker B: Do you ever, like, go back and listen to it? Like, dang, I'm really him. [00:08:48] Speaker C: I'm modest. But like, I know, like, I make good music. That's pretty much just like where it's at. I don't ever go back and be like, man, this was amazing. Like this. You feel me? Cause like, I still, like, man, it's still just so much room. It's so much like more that I want to do like, I'm not even thinking about the past. I'm just ready to move on to tomor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:09:15] Speaker A: I'm pulling up something that I want to bring up. I have. So I have three. I have three. Three. Go to Kin Records. [00:09:24] Speaker C: Yeah, I have. [00:09:27] Speaker A: Hold on. [00:09:27] Speaker B: Go to. When you at doing. [00:09:28] Speaker A: When I'm DJing. Sorry. When I'm DJing. I got three. Go to Kin Records. [00:09:32] Speaker B: You gotta be specific these days. [00:09:34] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. So yeah, yeah. [00:09:35] Speaker B: Could be your sex playlist. [00:09:36] Speaker A: No, no, no. I'm not listening to the homies. [00:09:38] Speaker B: Kalen, wanna do. [00:09:39] Speaker A: Do you listen to the homies when you. [00:09:41] Speaker B: Nah, you listen to yourself. [00:09:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:43] Speaker A: You play your music when you're being intimate. [00:09:45] Speaker C: I mean, unreleased it. Huh? [00:09:47] Speaker A: That's incredibly vague. [00:09:48] Speaker C: I play some unreleased. [00:09:49] Speaker B: Like, I'll slap some unreleased. [00:09:52] Speaker C: But if it. Come on. I'm not finna turn me on. But like, you feel me? If I just got back from the studio, I just recorded something, I'm gonna play it like, you feel me? If it just happened to get cracking in the midst of me doing that, then I'm not gonna turn it off. I'm gonna put this in the four or five songs I made tonight. [00:10:06] Speaker A: Bro, playing your own shit, like, getting ready to go up is. That's incredible. [00:10:13] Speaker B: What if you on shuffle, then, like, chike. Come on. [00:10:16] Speaker C: I don't have a shuffle. [00:10:18] Speaker B: You got your right playlist. Like sex. [00:10:20] Speaker C: Nah, I don't have a sex playlist. That's like freaky. Ah, yeah. Anyway. It's way too freaky. [00:10:26] Speaker A: Let me get to my question. [00:10:28] Speaker C: That's way too freaky for me. [00:10:30] Speaker A: All right. Obviously right. With it scoring. And then depending on how many girls, I go, either star or I go fine ass. [00:10:45] Speaker C: Right? [00:10:46] Speaker B: Depending on how many girls. [00:10:47] Speaker A: Depending on also which girls. [00:10:49] Speaker C: Like, where you djing at? [00:10:50] Speaker A: Which girls is there? Right. [00:10:52] Speaker B: I'm just trying to get the clip. [00:10:53] Speaker A: Oh, my God. On this new project, what song can replace one of those songs? [00:11:00] Speaker C: If I had you. [00:11:01] Speaker A: If I had you. [00:11:04] Speaker B: Player Anthem. [00:11:05] Speaker C: Player Anthem. For sure. Y' all gonna play the shit out of that. [00:11:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I was gonna say player anthem. And then what's the one you told man in the mirror? [00:11:15] Speaker C: Man in the mirror is just a staple. That's gonna be different. People gonna love that song. That song is an all purpose. [00:11:23] Speaker A: It's an all purpose. [00:11:24] Speaker C: Yeah. He was there, wherever. [00:11:25] Speaker A: When you going in and you creating a project. First of all, I'm. I'm just saying because I want to keep the same energy. I'm not a fan of these Long ass projects. I know it. I know it feeds the fans and the algorithm. But I also think that there's something to be said about them concise projects where It'd be like 13 bangers and then it'd be like, boom. Right? But when you going through it, do you. When you making these songs you like, all right, do I need. I need one for these for this or I need one? [00:11:49] Speaker C: Yeah. Like, I'll listen to it. And if I have like the same type of song or this is repetitive. I'm saying this. Like this damn near sound exactly like this. Like, I'm not going to put two subjects like these together. Like these. These beats sound too much similar. Like, I just pick which ones and then I'll send them out to all the homies like, hey, which one of these better? Which one you like? [00:12:06] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [00:12:07] Speaker C: And then I just go down my checklist. Like, I just make a mental checklist of like what they could like what situations these songs should be in or be used for. So, yeah, think about. You got to think about the listener. Like, majority of like Julio fans is like, you just. It just come with doing homework. Sometimes it's too much homework. You just got to go with what you feel at the end of the day. But it's all, you know, saying it's a gamble. [00:12:26] Speaker A: It's a couple things also that we have to catch up on because this your first visit to the show. [00:12:32] Speaker C: Yeah, this is my first time. [00:12:33] Speaker A: First time on the new show, man. Thank you for being a part of the pop out with us. [00:12:37] Speaker C: Oh, man, come on. [00:12:38] Speaker A: You know what I'm saying. You came out, did your thing. Also you shared the stage with G Perico. [00:12:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:12:44] Speaker A: I also want to thank you because you were one of. Now that I could. Obviously we could talk about it now. You were one of the. The people that I asked to combine your time with and you didn't have no problem. Like, you and Perico both were very cooperative. I appreciate the cooperation. Cause I had 28 minutes. [00:13:00] Speaker C: Yeah. Nah, it's easy, man. Like, people be unappreciative. Sometimes you gotta just. Sometimes you gotta just go with the flow. Like, I appreciate being able to be a part of it. So it was dope. It's gonna make it happen. I wasn't really tripping. And that's my boy. So it's all good to solve for sure. [00:13:15] Speaker A: And then is there anything else? Anything from that day that like, resonates with you a year later? Like, it stands out. [00:13:21] Speaker C: This nigga Tyler creator, before he was finna Go on. I was going to the bathroom and I was in the back and I kind of, like, walked through. I'm like, oh, shit. I'm like, what's the deal? He like, what's up, nigga? Like, I know who you is. I try to introduce myself to him. He like. I tried to introduce myself to him. He like, nigga, I don't know who you is. Like, what's up, N? I'm like, oh, shit. Then I was like, hold on, I gotta go right on stage. I was like, oh, shit. I'm like, n, that's Tyler Creator. That's hard. [00:13:44] Speaker B: Why does it sound like a scene on all that? Like, backstage somewhere? [00:13:49] Speaker C: I was right. Walked backstage. I'm like, nigga, that's Tyler Carrey finna perform too. Cause, you know, we didn't all see each other. We didn't know who was coming out, so. Nah, it was dope though, nigga. [00:13:57] Speaker A: Swear to God that we all, like, were colluding together, man. [00:14:01] Speaker C: N. We had one rehearsal one day and everybody pulled up and nobody knew who was finna be there. Nobody knew who was finna be there. We all hitting each other, like, on the low, like, not trying to talk about it. Like, hey, what you doing today? [00:14:12] Speaker A: What you doing today? [00:14:14] Speaker C: What you doing today? Nah, I don't know. What you doing today? [00:14:18] Speaker A: What you doing today? [00:14:19] Speaker C: I'm gonna go to this little rehearsal type thing. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I think I'm going to that too. Yeah. So, yeah, it just start pulling up N. Start seeing homies, niggas just start getting out the car, hanging out. That's what it was. [00:14:33] Speaker A: Also, I wanna apologize to you two For Real Day. [00:14:36] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Was it every October? [00:14:38] Speaker C: Nah, nah, nah. Two for real day. August 24th. [00:14:41] Speaker A: Okay. I've never been to a two for real day. Why you ain't coming every time? I'm either gone or I miss it for whatever reason. I don't know why. [00:14:49] Speaker C: So this year you gonna be there. [00:14:51] Speaker A: I'm pulling up. [00:14:52] Speaker C: All right. [00:14:52] Speaker A: I'm pulling up. [00:14:53] Speaker C: We gonna count on you. [00:14:54] Speaker A: But can you speak on two for Real Day? The importance of it and the origin of it? [00:14:57] Speaker C: No, absolutely. Two for Real Day is our community based event that we throw every year. I've been throwing it since 2019. Started off as like a block party. Started having a block party, and we were donating all the proceeds, all the donations that we collected to, like, special needs programs. Two years ago, we donated like $30,000 to the Compton Unified School District for special needs, all they special needs programs. We give out backpacks School supplies. We got plenty of sponsors. Amazon, Costco. So many more. Forgive me if I didn't name y' all just right now, but so many more sponsors. So many people that show up and partner up with us. Puma, True Religion. The list goes on. It's been posted. And it changes every year. More people add to it. You know, I'm seeing some people switch out and different things like that. Chase Bank. A lot of people come out. The mayor comes out every year, comes to recognize it. And a lot of my homies and friends, close performers and stuff like that, they come out, participate, hang out with everybody. And it's real, like, homely. It's a good event. Like, we having jumpers and all kind of carnival rides and stuff like that. And you know what I'm saying, it really touches people. [00:16:04] Speaker A: Hella kids out there, you know, I'd. [00:16:05] Speaker C: Be like, over, over, like 2,000 kids every year. Yeah, yeah, I know. [00:16:09] Speaker B: It's the real deal. Cause you just got real professional right now, talking. [00:16:11] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Nah, yeah. [00:16:12] Speaker B: That was at college. That was at college. Kailyn. I was just talking just now. It was college. [00:16:16] Speaker C: Kaylin, you gotta be a chameleon man. You gotta be able to blend in in these rooms. Yeah, for sure. [00:16:20] Speaker B: You have a muse on Nympho? A muse On Nympho? [00:16:24] Speaker C: Do I have a muse for Nympho? [00:16:25] Speaker B: Yeah. On Nympho, did you have a muse? [00:16:27] Speaker A: I like that song. [00:16:28] Speaker C: Just Women like that one. [00:16:29] Speaker A: You like that one? [00:16:30] Speaker B: Use a Dirty Animal. [00:16:31] Speaker A: I like that one. [00:16:32] Speaker C: That's a good one. [00:16:33] Speaker A: I liked it. [00:16:33] Speaker C: That's a joint. [00:16:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What about if I had you? Nah, it was a music. [00:16:38] Speaker C: Nah, ain't no music. [00:16:40] Speaker B: No. So Nympho was. But not if I had you. [00:16:43] Speaker C: It's neither one. [00:16:44] Speaker B: No. [00:16:44] Speaker C: Nah. [00:16:45] Speaker B: That's not just what you had just said, though. [00:16:47] Speaker C: What'd I say? [00:16:47] Speaker B: Couple seconds ago you said. [00:16:49] Speaker C: Yeah, you was just talking fast. I was listening slow. [00:16:51] Speaker B: You want to get into some lyrics? [00:16:52] Speaker C: We could. You could talk about it. [00:16:54] Speaker B: Was you done with the. All the professional shit? [00:16:58] Speaker A: Was one more professional thing. [00:16:59] Speaker B: Go ahead, Go ahead. [00:17:00] Speaker A: Okay. The YouTube theater show. [00:17:03] Speaker C: Yes, sir. October 16th. [00:17:06] Speaker A: That's crazy to me. [00:17:07] Speaker C: Why? [00:17:08] Speaker A: Cause only a few niggas can do that. [00:17:09] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:17:10] Speaker B: Congratulations. [00:17:11] Speaker A: Only a few niggas can do that. [00:17:12] Speaker C: Thank you. Thank you. [00:17:13] Speaker A: That's a big. Don't be modest about that. That's one of them things you celebrate. That's something. That's a big deal. [00:17:18] Speaker C: My shit is like the proof in the pudding. [00:17:20] Speaker A: And I also don't want to put you on blast. But I will say this, and you can speak on it if you want to. When you did the Novo, I think it was a Novo show. I think you did a Novo two nights back to back. [00:17:31] Speaker C: Two nights back to back. [00:17:32] Speaker A: We were in your dressing room, and y' all spraying fucking champagne everywhere and looting like, it was a lot of money everywhere. And I was in the corner trying not to get wet. And pause. She. She ready. She's such a fucking asshole. Like, with balloons and everything. [00:17:51] Speaker B: You the one talking. [00:17:52] Speaker A: I just said it. [00:17:53] Speaker C: Huh? [00:17:54] Speaker A: And I don't know how lit you were at that time, but you were so excited because you was like, they told me I couldn't do this. I did it. They told me I couldn't do that, and I did it. And then you was like. Then you said, I want to put your money, yo, your business out there. But you was like, they told me when I said I was gonna hit this dollar amount, I hit it. And then we hit this dollar amount, and then I hit it per show. So I'm just saying this is that same energy, bro. Because it ain't too many niggas, especially from here, where we at, can do that kind of venue. [00:18:24] Speaker C: No, absolutely. I give myself my pass on the back for sure. [00:18:30] Speaker A: Afterwards. [00:18:30] Speaker C: Yeah, afterwards. But it's like, it don't really matter what I'm saying about me right now. It's gonna matter when they say when I'm done. Like, when I'm dead and gone. Cause that's. I got up until then to do and be whoever I want to be, do whatever I want to do. You know what I'm saying? You really got until you die to do whatever you want to do. It's just up to you how you gonna do it. Like, I'm light years ahead in my mind. Like, this is just something that I've been having to check off the list since I started rapping. The first day I started rapping, I knew I had to do this. So everything I'm checking off the list is like, shit, nigga, I'm behind. I should have been doing this years ago. That's how I feel about it. [00:19:04] Speaker A: That's what's up. Yeah, I'm just happy. I'm proud of you. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Nah, I appreciate you. [00:19:09] Speaker B: Over the last year or so, it's been a lot of changes in the music industry, with layoffs and artists getting dropped and stuff like that. [00:19:16] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:19:16] Speaker B: Have you had any, like, was you nervous or anything during that time, like, with your future at the label? [00:19:24] Speaker C: Yeah, I think about it. Every day. Like, when you not in control of, like, your own ship 100%, you should be. You should be nervous about everything. Hell, yeah. If you ain't got, like. If shit ain't going good at home, you don't know how. You feel me, you get home, you don't know what's gonna happen. You know what I'm saying? So it's just like, you gotta. It's a mental battle, but at the same time, it's just like, man, it's a part of it. This is what I signed up for. I gotta figure it out. Like, I'm not gonna sit up and cry about nothing. Just gotta figure this shit out. It's a will. If it's a will, it's a way every time. You know what I'm saying? [00:19:55] Speaker A: Are you still. So you still with the label? [00:19:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:19:58] Speaker A: Okay. Bet that's what's up. [00:20:01] Speaker B: So, I mean, the next few things that I'm about to ask you, I just wanna know if it's capping the lyrics. Nothing too crazy. [00:20:08] Speaker C: Come on. [00:20:09] Speaker B: That ain't too crazy. On like that. Yeah, you said, I got 99. [00:20:19] Speaker A: That's a lot. [00:20:20] Speaker B: You didn't hear me? [00:20:20] Speaker C: I got 99. [00:20:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I like that. Said that. Yeah. [00:20:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:20:26] Speaker B: That mean that that's true. [00:20:27] Speaker C: Or I'm not counting on my hands, but. [00:20:31] Speaker B: Oh, okay. Co pilot. Yeah, I know your iPad ain't at home. [00:20:36] Speaker C: Bitches be liars. [00:20:37] Speaker B: What happened? [00:20:38] Speaker A: What the fuck does that mean? What happened? What does that mean? [00:20:42] Speaker C: I could have been who she was at. He could have said it. And I'll just. [00:20:48] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:20:48] Speaker C: That the message. [00:20:49] Speaker A: Y' all gotta he talking in circles to the groups. [00:20:51] Speaker C: Location, location. You ain't never like, hey, send me your location. Or you don't got a girl's location. You don't have any women's locations. [00:20:59] Speaker A: Oh, she put the location on the iPad, not the phone. [00:21:02] Speaker C: Yeah, so the iPad. [00:21:04] Speaker A: You gotta catch me. [00:21:05] Speaker C: The iPad at home. Whole time she's spinning like, where you at? You not at. You're not at home. There's no way you're here right now. Somebody's getting spent right now. [00:21:13] Speaker A: I didn't know that they did that. [00:21:14] Speaker C: Yeah, it's not Player. Tell the truth. Tell me you out. [00:21:18] Speaker A: Wow. You'd be okay with that? [00:21:20] Speaker C: I mean, I would tell the truth. I just wouldn't lie. [00:21:23] Speaker A: But would you be okay with her doing that? [00:21:26] Speaker C: But, like, who is her? [00:21:27] Speaker A: Whoever went in the 99 saying, like. Like, 1 to 9. [00:21:33] Speaker C: 9. [00:21:33] Speaker B: Say 1 to 9. [00:21:34] Speaker C: 9. [00:21:34] Speaker A: Hey, Kalen, I'm finna go to Miami for the weekend. [00:21:37] Speaker C: Yeah, that's cool. [00:21:39] Speaker A: All right. [00:21:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:21:40] Speaker A: Okay. [00:21:41] Speaker C: It would be very unplayer for me to be, like. To trip. What would I trip for? [00:21:45] Speaker A: I feel you. [00:21:46] Speaker C: Yeah. You confident in what you got going on, then you should be. [00:21:51] Speaker A: I'm way too confident for where I am in life. [00:21:53] Speaker C: Believe, man. Listen, me too. [00:21:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:58] Speaker B: Y' all some California players, Something like that. Palm trees. You said, if my bitch DM my bitch, I'mma put us in a chat. [00:22:07] Speaker C: Yes, we can all talk about it. Because I don't want nobody to lie on nobody. [00:22:12] Speaker A: We can all talk about it. [00:22:13] Speaker C: This is the craziest thing I ever heard in my life. Why? [00:22:17] Speaker A: We can all talk about what? [00:22:18] Speaker C: Whatever we got to talk about. Y' all don't be talking behind my back. If we're all involved, don't try to team up and get in cahoots. Cause I'm going to tell like what you said. [00:22:25] Speaker A: Read the lyric again. [00:22:27] Speaker C: If my bitch DM my bitch, I put us all in the chat. If my bitch ain't no friends in this shit. [00:22:31] Speaker A: DM my bitch. [00:22:32] Speaker B: I put us all in the chat. [00:22:33] Speaker C: Ain't no friends in this shit. Don't leave that out. Don't try to go behind my back and y' all start being friends and shit. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Is that like you don't want your. You don't want. [00:22:41] Speaker C: They be hating on each other to you? Yeah, but now y' all trying to. Y' all think y' all caught me. So y' all finna text each other. [00:22:47] Speaker B: Oh, so it's not a poly chat, huh? It's not a poly chat. [00:22:52] Speaker C: Nah. You don't have to argue with nose. Like, if, like, they don't like, we gonna all start that chat together. That doesn't have to be like, ain't no talking going on behind my back. And then we come to it. [00:23:03] Speaker A: That must be a generational thing. Cause she be on that, too. Like, I'm putting everybody in the group chat. We could have a conversation. [00:23:09] Speaker C: Yeah, like, why would you. Why would. [00:23:10] Speaker B: You gotta get down. [00:23:11] Speaker C: You gotta make sure ain't nobody finna lie. Like, what if you getting caught up? They trying to catch you. You know what I'm saying? So they just both going back and forth. [00:23:19] Speaker A: I'm okay with people talking behind my back. [00:23:21] Speaker B: All right, so then you just don't put him in a chat. [00:23:23] Speaker C: I don't like that either. So, like, if y' all both going back and forth talking about me and, like, how y' all both thought y' all caught Me or whatever. Let's just all talk about it. Cause you could lie to her. She could lie to you. It might not even be that bad. Y' all might still both want to talk to me after. [00:23:36] Speaker B: But if they hit you up on the side, if they hit each other up without you, does that mean that they did that because you haven't been honest? Cause why are they hitting each other up? [00:23:45] Speaker C: They could have a friend or something like that. Like, mutual things be happening. Like, women be like, girls, girls, Whatever that shit is. You know what I'm saying? Like, you could be a. Oh, yeah. Oh, I be talking to. Oh, she told me talk to my friend. They get to chatting. Let's just all talk. [00:24:01] Speaker B: Did they have you on a T app? [00:24:03] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:03] Speaker B: What'd they say? [00:24:04] Speaker C: That he's a really nice guy. [00:24:07] Speaker A: That's Cap. [00:24:08] Speaker C: That's really what they said. [00:24:09] Speaker B: This nigga made his own post. [00:24:11] Speaker C: They said I'm a great guy. [00:24:13] Speaker A: They had you on the app for. [00:24:14] Speaker C: Real, and they said I'm a great guy? A lot of people said that I'm a great guy. Wait, what the fuck? [00:24:18] Speaker A: That's a real thing n be on that app? [00:24:20] Speaker C: Yeah, they said I'm a nice guy. [00:24:21] Speaker B: How did you find out? Somebody sent it to you? [00:24:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:24] Speaker B: Like, somebody like that sent it or, like. [00:24:26] Speaker C: Nah, I got it from, like, a friend. [00:24:29] Speaker B: Okay. [00:24:30] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:30] Speaker B: So she was trying to do the Yelp review. Maybe she the one who did it. [00:24:33] Speaker C: I don't think she did it. [00:24:35] Speaker B: She got an account, though. [00:24:36] Speaker C: I don't think she had an account. I think somebody told her. But I'm signed in on my phone. [00:24:41] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:24:42] Speaker C: I got good friends. [00:24:43] Speaker B: Let me see if there's some niggas over there. Let me get your login. [00:24:46] Speaker C: I'm just trying to make sure I'm good. [00:24:49] Speaker A: So do we work for women, too? [00:24:52] Speaker C: Nah, you can't sign in as a man. I had to have somebody, like, sign in. [00:24:54] Speaker A: No, I'm saying, can you check hers? [00:24:56] Speaker C: No, they don't. They don't do that. That would be very unplayer for niggas to be talking about women like that. [00:25:00] Speaker B: Yeah, that's an app. That's nasty work. [00:25:02] Speaker C: That's bad. [00:25:02] Speaker A: No, I'm just. I don't know how it works. [00:25:04] Speaker B: It's like a box report. [00:25:06] Speaker C: I ain't gonna lie. Like, the things that I've seen women do, if somebody just stay, like, 30% of what they be doing, they'll jump off a cliff. Like, they'd jump out the window, right? Yeah, it'd be bad. They Would that's not safe for the world. Damn, I care about the women, you know what I'm saying? Like, man, we could take it like, you know what I'm saying? [00:25:26] Speaker B: Can you expand on these lyrics on man in. You said I'm a star. I just wish my presentation was bigger. [00:25:34] Speaker C: Yeah. Like I just. When I said that, I just felt like I wish more people, you know, knew who I was, you know, I wish I was a larger artist. I want to be like big, like the biggest. It's not no limit to where what we shooting for you there? [00:25:49] Speaker B: Almost there, though. [00:25:50] Speaker C: Yeah. One song away. [00:25:51] Speaker B: Really close. [00:25:52] Speaker C: For real. Just one song away. One hit away. Yeah. Have you done what you doing with them cars? You be doing voodoo? [00:25:59] Speaker A: Have you little something terror and shit? [00:26:02] Speaker B: Something like that? [00:26:02] Speaker C: I'm scared of you. [00:26:03] Speaker A: What you be doing? What? Niggas get nervous when niggas is doing shit. Of course. [00:26:08] Speaker C: Any girl start bringing out cars, crystals and shit, I get to. I'm finna leave. [00:26:11] Speaker B: You got trauma. Yeah, that's how it. Joey interrupted his whole question. He said, what's them cars over there? [00:26:18] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:26:20] Speaker B: He said, hold on. [00:26:21] Speaker C: This is going with them cars over there. Yeah, I'm cool. [00:26:24] Speaker A: I forgot what the fuck I was gonna ask. How you fucked my whole question up. [00:26:28] Speaker B: Creativity, creativily. When you writing songs like Baby girl or act like, you know, is that just all just like your artistry or are you pulling from a real emotional point? [00:26:41] Speaker C: No, I'm pulling. I'm pulling from emotional standpoints. Like every. Every song and everything I really talk about is some. Something that I can relate to or like, you know what I'm saying, Some situation that I've been in, either, you know what I'm saying? You play both sides of the situation. Or like I'm thinking for everybody when I write the music, like, maybe what would she have wanted to hear when I did this? You know what I'm saying? Or okay, if I did that, maybe what would this have sound like? Or if I would have did this, I know this would have been the outcome of this, you know what I'm saying? So. [00:27:10] Speaker A: Oh, I remember now. So in rap, in like traditional rap, hip hop, people get backlash for having right, writers and collaborators. But when songs are more melody driven, stuff like that, often you get hella people collaborating. Like, you might have a nigga come in and give you a hook or idea or something like that. Do you think that people should work more together because. Or I mean, first of all, do you. Do you believe in collaboration and working on Your albums. And then I have it. [00:27:38] Speaker C: I didn't like for this. I didn't do none of that. But, like, I've worked on other people's albums and stuff, and I've worked before, like, with. In the room, which is people just make good music sometimes. You know what I'm saying? I'm just a fan of other people's artistry and people's pen. Like, it's a hell of good writers that write hits and stuff like that. You would be a fool not to go see what they got going on. You know what I mean? So. [00:27:59] Speaker A: But that wasn't for the. For this project. [00:28:01] Speaker C: No. I wrote every song. [00:28:04] Speaker A: Got you? [00:28:04] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:28:06] Speaker A: Did you scrap? I mean, there's no features. There's no. [00:28:11] Speaker C: You know, it's to the neck is. [00:28:13] Speaker A: Why did you feel like that was important at this point? You feel like that was important at this point in your career to do that, or is that just how it came out? [00:28:20] Speaker C: No, I just don't be liking the way, though, niggas, man, I'm not like, oh, okay. Yeah. I'm not like, I be getting bored fast. Like, we can't come to the studio and work for too long. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, if I send it to you, you don't send it back. I'm not gonna keep blowing you up to get the verse back. [00:28:34] Speaker A: Well, how fast do you return features? [00:28:36] Speaker C: I'm bad at it, so I get it. So that's why I don't be tripping. I'm just not gonna ask niggas. I'm gonna just do it myself. But it be just different stuff. Like, a nigga might send me the verse. I'm not recording. Like, I ain't recording in three weeks. I don't wanna go give you no ass. Let me just wait. Let me just. I'm knock it out. And if I don't make the time, like, either it's. Damn, so be it. Or you know what I'm saying? Like, all right, we gonna just hold on. [00:29:00] Speaker A: What's the longest you waited for a feature? [00:29:02] Speaker C: Man, I'm still waiting, but I'm saying, When is 2018? [00:29:06] Speaker A: You send a record in 2018. [00:29:08] Speaker C: I'm still. I'm still waiting. [00:29:10] Speaker A: You send a record of 2018. [00:29:11] Speaker C: Man, that's not cap. Nah, like, it's for real. But what. [00:29:16] Speaker A: Okay, what's the longest you took to return the feature that you actually did? [00:29:23] Speaker C: Like, maybe like two months. [00:29:25] Speaker A: Oh, that's not that bad. [00:29:26] Speaker C: Like, two, three months. [00:29:26] Speaker A: That's not that bad. 2018. Is wild. [00:29:29] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:29:30] Speaker A: Three years I got to get. [00:29:33] Speaker C: Like, if you pay, like, I'm gonna do your shit, like, within this week. Like, if you paying for a feature, I'm gonna, like, get it done, like, within this week. Cause that's like a business transaction. I'm not gonna do no bad business. But, like, if we making music and you one of the homies, like, you know, like, when I'm in that mode, if. You know, like, usually most of the people that I make music with, I've been making music with them. Like, when Ruchi want me to do a song, Ruchi be like, hey, what you doing today? And he'll come call me from the morning time. Like, come pull up on me. It's 10 in the morning. This nigga been calling me since 6:30 last night. Like, hey, bro, come on, pull up. Then I go pull up. And I fuck around and be there with this nigga for, like, two days. And we probably don't get no songs done. But he know, like, all right. Nah. But I listen to the music. Like, all right, I got it. Like, I'll do some verses, but this not the right one. I'll go record, and I'll be like, huh? Use this one. This the right one. [00:30:20] Speaker A: You and Ruchi in the studio for two days is crazy. [00:30:23] Speaker C: Nah, that's my boy. [00:30:24] Speaker A: Like, I'll go hang out with him. [00:30:25] Speaker C: For, like, two days. Yeah. [00:30:26] Speaker A: Like, that's not. That's insane. But I talk, don't do no music. [00:30:30] Speaker C: But it be music. Getting your sessions be different. Yeah. Like, you gotta have to be there. [00:30:35] Speaker B: I've seen you walk in the studio and lay some shit down on like, four or five songs. [00:30:40] Speaker C: Yeah. Like an hour be done. [00:30:42] Speaker B: Ruchi with Beano and Blue Bucks. [00:30:45] Speaker C: The. [00:30:45] Speaker B: The last session, which y' all all. [00:30:47] Speaker C: Just did, you always. [00:30:48] Speaker B: You go in there and you get the shit done quick. [00:30:50] Speaker C: Yeah. That's why I was just like, feel me go do what you supposed to do, then get up out of there. But sometimes it'd be. It don't be like that. It be just different atmospheres. [00:30:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:58] Speaker C: Sometimes I'll be ready to go home too. Like, I'll be like, all right. I'm finna go. Like, let me hurry up and do this. Cause I feel like I'm finna start hanging out. So just. You just gotta be on top of it. For real. Yeah, but it be just different atmospheres with different homies. [00:31:11] Speaker B: What's up? The clothing line? It dropped yet? [00:31:14] Speaker C: This stuff? [00:31:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:15] Speaker C: The merch for the album. Nah, it ain't Dropped yet? It's on the way. This is just a little sample, though. You know, I'll just be wearing this from time to time. [00:31:21] Speaker B: You gonna bring this? [00:31:23] Speaker C: Nah, these are just samples. Y' all not supposed to have these. I'm bring y' all some nice stuff, though. [00:31:26] Speaker B: Well, don't give me the album before it come out. And I give me the merch before it come out. [00:31:29] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:31:30] Speaker A: Damn. [00:31:31] Speaker C: Who else? [00:31:31] Speaker A: Merch? [00:31:31] Speaker C: I wanna be the first one who merch. You got that? You got before the album, and they pledged you out. All right. [00:31:37] Speaker B: I'm not their friend. [00:31:37] Speaker C: I rest my case. I rest my case. [00:31:40] Speaker B: I'm not their friend. [00:31:41] Speaker A: Yeah, fire her shit up. [00:31:43] Speaker C: You know what I'm saying? Popping it.
